Song of the Day #21: Are You There?

“Is there anybody out there? (tapping the microphone) Is this thing on?”

This is how I feel sometimes when I’m typing up these lyrics to post each day. Today I had this thought creep into my head: “Is anybody out there really paying attention to what I’m saying?”

Now, I know that some of you are. I’ve had several of you subscribe to my blog and “like” a lot of my posts. THANK YOU to those of you who have responded in such a kind way! However, the purpose of this activity this month was to hopefully inspire creativity. Even though I’ve gotten likes and subscriptions, I sure would like some comments! There have been very few. If you are inspired in any way, let me know about it!

Anyway, that’s what inspired today’s song:

Are You There?

If I could get your attention
If you would just listen to me
If I knew you were out there,
then you’d know where I stand.
Is anybody listening?
Is anybody out there?
Can anybody tell me:
Can you hear me?

Chorus: I’ve got to know:
Are you there?
I’ve got to know:
Are you hearing what I’m saying?
Am I getting through?
Do you understand?
Or am I just wasting my breath?

If I could just get some feedback
If I just knew what you’re thinking
If you would just let me know you’re there,
I could tell you where I stand.
I need to find
the words to express myself.
Can you please tell me:
What should I say?

Chorus

Bridge: I want to tell you how I feel
I want to tell you what’s important to me
I want to give you something special,
so will you listen to me?

Chorus

Now… let’s hear some feedback! And, as always, if you like what you read, feel free to share it!

See you tomorrow!
