Who We Really Are

“Every man is somebody because he is a child of God.” –Martin Luther King, Jr.

Slide4_hands-e1443110924679Politics, race, gender, age, nationality, worldview, opinions, etc… blah, blah, BLAH! There are so many things that separate us from each other, and it seems like these days, that’s all anyone ever wants to focus on. Why?

So, I have had enough. Rather than focus on all of our differences, I have decided to focus on something that we all have in common: who we really are.

Several years ago, I wrote a song as a “musical expression of frustration.” I had gotten tired of seeing people focus on what made each other different, especially in the area of race. God created us all different and unique not as a way to divide us, but more as an artist uses various shades, colors, and textures to create something beautiful. We are his works of art!

But, more than that, we are also his children. He has adopted us as his sons and daughters and he’s given us a place at his table. If we would take the time to see each other as God sees us, I think things would be different. EVERY person (even those we disagree with) is special to him!

Enjoy:

God’s Children (Lyrics):

Everyone who lives is a child of God.
It doesn’t matter who you are.
He is our Lord. He is our maker.
Yet he is the one who wants us nearer to him.
He takes pride in all we do for him
Though we don’t deserve his love.
He will carry you when you can’t stand on your own.Chorus: We are all God’s children
All Gods pride
We are all God’s children
All Gods pride
We belong to him. He is our Father
And we are his children.

He loves no one over another
He loves us all just the same
He is our Father. He is our God.
Yet he is the one who will love us no matter what we’ve done.
He takes pride in all we do for him
Though we don’t deserve his love
He will carry you when you can’t stand on your own

Chorus

Bridge: He’ll never turn his back on his children
He’ll always be right by your side
When you need him, he will come running
You have nothing to fear, he hears your cries

He takes pride in all we do for him
Though we don’t deserve his love
He will carry you when you can’t stand on your own

Chorus
